MEDIA ADVISORY: MINCH LEWIS WILL FORMALLY ANNOUNCE HIS CANDIDACY FOR MAYOR OF SYRACUSE ON NOVEMBER 28TH

SYRACUSE - Minch Lewis will formally announce his candidacy for Mayor of Syracuse on Tuesday, November 28th at 6:00 PM. The announcement will be made during a reception in the Persian Terrace at the Hotel Syracuse from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The Minch Lewis Campaign Committee and over 40 individual community members are hosting the $250 per person reception in honor of Lewis as he officially kicks off his Syracuse Mayoral Campaign.

On Tuesday evening, Lewis will become the first Democrat to officially declare candidacy for the Syracuse Mayoral Election in 2001. In addition, at the reception Lewis will unveil a PowerPoint presentation of his "Vision for Syracuse" that includes his proposals for improving public education, fixing the City's finances, strengthening neighborhoods, and improving the delivery of city services.

Minch Lewis is currently serving his second full term as the Syracuse City Auditor. Lewis was first elected City Auditor in 1994 to fill the vacancy created when Roy Bernardi became Mayor. Previously, Lewis had served in the Onondaga County Legislature from 1975 to 1981 representing the Eastwood section of the City. In addition, Lewis was appointed to the Syracuse Common Council in 1993 to fill a vacancy.

The Minch Lewis Campaign Committee anticipates approximately 100 guests to be in attendance. Additional material will be made available to individuals in attendance from the media.
